[ PROCLAMATION & GOALS ] The misunderstanding always exists while speaking of the environment problem. People tend to focus their eyes on those "beautiful" buildings for they think only those are the unique townscape. However, that is a rather trivial aspect of the matter. The fact of first-rate importance is the predominant role that environment (void as well as solid) plays in our urban spaces, and the very varieties of it may manifest. During the past ten years, designers and owners have laid too much stress on the individual buildings for unique signature while neglected the surroundings and the correlation. For example, they rarely concerned about pedestrian linkage and buffer zones for the citizen. As a result, many huge monsters devoured the vernacular landscape of our city, streetscape disappeared instead of lots of superficial decoration. The texture of the city is becoming more and more inexplicable. It is critical time for us to dedicate to the environmental research and design. What shall we do? Firstly, as scholars, we will appeal to the society to divert the attention to the environment. Secondly, as designers, we will be preoccupied with environmental design for the highlife of people. The goal may be roughly concluded as follows:       --To capture vernacular culture.       --To winkle hidden order out of the city.       --To embody a rich urban texture. PLEASE JOIN US!
